What we do with your details.

This page covers the signup form on this site, and nothing else. It is written in plain words on purpose. The form is the only thing on this site that collects anything about you.

What the form collects

Everything it asks for, and why it asks.

Nothing is collected anywhere else on the site. This is the whole list.

What you need help with, in your own words If you are asking for help
The single most useful thing you can give us. It is how we learn what people actually want, rather than what we guessed they would want.
Your phone number
How we reach you. The first conversation is a call from a person, not an automated email.
Your pincode
How we know which area you are in, so the Hufer who comes is near you.
The area your pincode maps to
Worked out from your pincode and stored alongside it, so we can group signups by neighbourhood without guessing.
Your email address
A second way to reach you if the phone number does not work. The signup pages send you one welcome email, and check that the address can receive mail.
Your name
So we know who we are calling. Optional.
The price band you picked
Research, not a quote. It tells us what people think this kind of help is worth. It is not a rate card and it does not commit you to anything.
The skills you picked Hufers only
What you can do, from a fixed list, plus any skills you type in yourself. It is how jobs will be matched to you.
Your education Hufers only
Helps us match reading and writing jobs. It does not decide who can join, and "Prefer not to say" is a valid answer.
Your age, as a band
A band such as 25 to 34, not your date of birth. It tells us who HUFA is reaching. It is not a check on whether you can sign up, and nobody is turned away on age.
Your gender
Male, female, or "Prefer not to say", which is a valid answer. If a requester asks for a woman Hufer, your gender is used to match that job. It is never shown to anyone.
In the app, exact locations
The exact spot of a request, and a Hufer's start point and live location, are used to offer jobs nearby and to show a requester where their Hufer is on the way. The job address and pin stay hidden until a Hufer accepts. A Hufer's live location is shown only to the requester of the job they are heading to.
Whether you signed up to ask for help or to give it
The two sides get different questions and different follow-ups.
Which link brought you here
If you arrived from an ad or a post, the form records which one. It tells us where to keep talking and where to stop. It is a label on the link, not anything about you.

What we do with it

Two things, and that is the end of the list.

Contact you about what you asked for

And only that. A person from HUFA calls you.

Work out what to build and where

Which neighbourhoods to serve first, and what people actually need, so the thing we build is the thing that was asked for.

What we do not do

The promises worth putting in writing.

We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers
Not now and not later. If that ever changes it will be a different company.
We do not add you to a marketing list
You will not get anything you did not ask for.
No advertising trackers, no cookies
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you. It records the page you opened, the site that sent you here, your country and your device type. Your browser also remembers one thing, which side of the site you were last looking at, and it stays in your browser.

These companies are involved, because the site has to run somewhere. Vercel serves the site. Your signup is stored in HUFA's database on Supabase. Resend sends the alert to HUFA and your welcome email. Google Fonts serves the typeface. When you type a pincode, that pincode alone is sent to India Post's public lookup so the area name can be filled in. Nothing else about you goes with it, and the only thing your browser loads from anywhere else is the typeface.

Getting it deleted

Ask, and it is gone.

Email info@hufa.in and say you want your entry deleted. No reason needed, and no follow-up questions. A person reads that inbox and will reply to confirm it is done.

Need something done?

Write it in one sentence. A person from HUFA calls you.
