What a Hufer job is.
People ask us what kind of work a Hufer does. The honest answer is a list of ten jobs. They are the ones on every page of this site, and together they show the shape of the work.
- Be home for the AC technician, 10 to 1.
- Go with my mother to her appointment.
- Pick fresh flowers at KR Market, 6 am.
- Keep track of boxes on moving day.
- Receive my furniture and set it up.
- Run errands for our family function.
- Be there for the landlord’s inspection.
- Count the stock in my shop tonight.
- Take notes at my society meeting.
- Drive my car to the service and back.
Read them again and notice what they have in common. None of them needs a trade or a licence. None of them is hard. Each of them needs a person to be somewhere, at a set time, and to pay attention while they are there.
That is what a Hufer job is. Being there, for someone who cannot be.
The requester is usually at work, out of town, unwell, or simply in two places at once. The job is the gap between what they have to do and what they can do. A Hufer fills the gap.
Some jobs are a few hours in one place. The AC technician. The furniture delivery. The landlord’s inspection. The Hufer waits, lets the right person in, watches the work, calls the requester if something needs a decision, and reports when it is done.
Some jobs are a person beside a person. The appointment with a mother. The Hufer travels with her, sits through the wait, keeps the family updated, and brings her home.
Some jobs are an errand with judgement in it. Flowers at KR Market at 6 am, picked the way you would for your own home. The last-minute running around before a family function. The Hufer is trusted to choose well, not just to carry.
Some jobs are a record. Count the stock. Take notes at the society meeting. The Hufer’s attention is the product, and what they hand back is a list or a page of notes the requester can rely on.
Who takes these jobs?
A student between classes takes the 10 to 1 slot at the flat. A graduate after work counts the stock in the shop. A retired teacher on a Tuesday morning goes with the mother to her appointment. A person who knows cars drives one to the service centre and brings it back by evening. The jobs are short, the hours are odd, and each one suits somebody.
Every Hufer on HUFA is verified before their first job: a call with a person from HUFA, government identity, police verification, two references telephoned. The requester sees that the Hufer is verified before they hand over a PIN.
The flow is the same for every job. The requester posts it in a sentence with a starting price. A Hufer nearby reads it and accepts. They agree the final price on a call or chat. The Start PIN begins the work, the End PIN closes it, and the requester pays in the app.
If you read the ten jobs and thought of one you could do, that is the whole point. There is no skill list to pass. There is a board of jobs near you, and you choose the ones you want.

- There is no list. Most apps start with a grid of trades. HUFA starts with the sentence you would say to a friend. Why that is the whole front door.
- Two PINs, one job.Every job has a Start PIN and an End PIN, four digits each, held by the requester. What they are for and what follows from them.
- Bangalore first.HUFA works in Bangalore, pincodes starting 560. Why one city, what first means, and the one number that decides the next.
